Team Building and Review

This week, classes will be spending some time looking at ways to become better teammates and partners. Sportsmanship is a constant focus in our curriculum, and this week we'll be practicing specific strategies that will help us to work cooperatively more effectively. Not an easy task, but certainly an important one! Ask your child how he or she views team work. In our discussions, I was so pleased to hear all the wonderful examples of cooperation and friendship!

We'll also spend some time this week revisiting some of the units we have covered throughout the trimester, as our time together will be coming to a close in the next two weeks.

Alleyball and Volleyball

This week our classes will be utilizing the Athletic Center's Rec Gym for two exiting units - Alleyball and Volleyball. Alleyball is a form of kickball in which teams run through an alley to land safely on base and score runs. Critical thinking, strategy, and cooperation are key elements that are reinforced through this highly active and fun game.

In volleyball, students will be introduced to some basic skills necessary for play - passing, setting, underhand serving, and overhand serving. While we will not be using nets, just having the opportunity to explore these skills will help the students be ready to expand their knowledge of the game in future lessons. Its sure to be a great week!
